Our Mission ....

Our charity mission is to support children age 2-16 yrs with multi-sensory impairments, physical and complex medical difficulties, attending 'The Llewellyn School and Nursery' . We strive to increase confidence, muscle strength, independence and help develop their social interaction enabling them to form friendships with peers, with a holistic and therapeutic approach.

Our Aim ....

Our overall aim is to ensure that our charity's mission is met by ensuring that these children's complex needs are met by a high quality and bespoke provision that challenges and promotes achievable expectations for them. This will be achieved by making sure each child receives 1:1 tuition to make sure their individual and complex needs are met with therapeutic activities such as hydrotherapy, horse riding, art, music and cooking therapy and soft play.

Holistic Approach ....

The holistic approach develops students to be confident and independent; aims to make learning a process of self‐improvement that explicitly recognizes the self and the social context of learning and teaching, and recognizing the needs of the individual learner in the interaction. It helps each individual child find identity, meaning and purpose in life through connections to the community and to the natural world. Its premise is that the social context of the interaction is significant. It recognizes that the exchanges that take place within this social action are the foundation for developing critical learners, thus including experiential knowledge of learners and teachers to improve the quality of the teaching situation and levels of achievement of learners. It is a process of self-actualization and learning that combines mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual growth and means that we are interested in engaging and developing the whole person. In holistic education the teacher is seen less as a person of authority who leads and controls but more  as a friend, mentor and facilitator, working together towards a mutual goal with open and honest communication and differences between two people being respected and appreciated. The reward of this is helping one another and growing together rather than being placed above one another.

What makes us different ....

Children attending therapy sessions will be in small friendly group with their peers, receive 1:1 with high level teaching assistants. The building has been adapted with a medical area and enough space to use specialist equipment, such as bikes and walking frames within it. All activities are provided on ground level, with easy access.
