The Llewellyn School

Playground Phase 1 - COMPLETE

A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED US ACHIEVE THIS.

Louie's Helping Hands is really excited to finally share with you all our vision for The Llewellyn School Playground.

Something we strongly believe is that all children should be able to access outdoor spaces, but the reality is that actually there are no parks or playgrounds in this area that allow our special children access to play or to be included in family activities outside.

We want this to change!

Our dream is that once completed, this playground will be a safe accessible space that all special need families in our community will be able to come and experience outdoor play all together.

You can help us make this a reality.

 School-Big Build

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

December 2015 unexpectedly saw the closure of The Royal School for Deaf Children in Margate leaving many children with complex needs without a suitable school placement.  This had a major impact on families and children, not only in the local area but countrywide.

Anthony Curwen, Managing Director of Quex Park Estate has very generously come to the rescue offering a plot of land to build a single storey, timber framed school within their grounds.  On 14th February 2018 planning permission was granted, with a unanimous vote for the new school to go ahead!   The school is called Llewellyn School and Nursery.

Linked to the school is also a registered charity, Louie's Helping Hands, Charity No 1167225. Louie's Helping Hands supports the children who attend the School and Nursery by providing some of the valuable therapies the children require. Therapies like Hydrotherapy, Horse Riding, Art & Music sessions. Combined these contribute to the children's wellbeing, by building core strength and muscle tone whilst also increasing confidence and independence. Louie's Helping Hands also purchases specialist equipment the children require at school.

We are now embarking on our largest project to date: The Llewellyn School Big Build!

This is where we need your help... We need to fund raise to help build the new school. We are looking for local companies or individuals who would be interested in sponsoring this very valuable project. If you can donate materials or time please contact us and let us know here

We did it!!

Our beautiful new school opened it's doors on September 4th 2019 to welcome back the children.
We could not have done it without the funders that believed in us, and our amazing community, you all came together to make this dream become reality.

A HUGE BIG THANK YOU!
